Help! I need to make a nice meal for In-Laws?!
Answers: I am planning a Christmas get together for my in-laws and all my husbands sisters and husbands. Probably about 16 people total. I am doing this on the 22nd of December about 1pm. We live about an hour from everyone, so I wanted to do it in the day so they didn't have to drive home in the dark. There are kids from about 6 to 16 so I figured a baked ziti for the kids. What should I serve for the main food - I have some apps in my mind, and I figured a big batch of red-skinned pototoes in the oven - what kind of meat??? we just had turkey for thanskgiving. I never do this - so I'm a bit nervous and want to make a good impression!!! Any help would be great! and appreciated!!
I would do whole beef tenderloin rubbed with Thyme and black pepper. Roast till 125 deg then let rest for 20 min. Slice thickly. You can have some sauteed mushrooms on the side.
Don't do the redskins in the oven, boil them in HIGHLY salted water and toss them in butter and fresh taragon.
Do a broccoli and cheese sauce baked in the oven to get some color on the cheese.
Serve a good cabernet. Cider for the kids.
Apple crisp for desert.
well i was going to say lasagna but since you want to have ziti for the kids how about
a roast? good luck and enjoy
happy holidays
Make a glazed ham. It will go great with the potato's, you can serve also a green bean casserole.
hi- baked ziti sounds good! and a pork roast with potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions around it. I do my roast in the oven first alone. I pour a bottle of beer over the roast and stick garlic cloves in the roast and put seasonings on it. I also get a box of Savory herb and garlic soup envelopes from lipton soup. Mix one envelope with warm water and pour half over the roast and the other half over the potatoes. Makes it moist!!! Mix potatoes, carrots, celery and whole onions with oil and seasonings and other half of soup mix. And then after 1 hour add the potatoes to the roast. Very good!!!
