How and what do I serve to guests on New Years Eve?!

Question: I am going to have family and a few friends over for New Years Eve for dinner, but I am on a very tight budget. What can I serve? There will be about 20 people and they will be at our house for dinner until at least midnight or after. What can I serve for the meal and what can I make for snacks throughout the evening? PS Recipies would help also! thanks in advance!

Where I live a lot of people have pork and sauerkraut for New Years Eve or New Years Day. It's a tradition that is supposed to bring luck for the coming year. Hoppin' John is a southern tradition to bring luck in the new year-blackeyed peas and rice, usually cooked with some kind of smoked pork. For snacks, cheese balls, pepperoni slices, with crackers, dips with potato chips and raw veggies,

Here are some great recipies for entertaining, they are all pretty quick and easy and taste great. Browse through, you can search and find something you would like. They should have what you are looking for if you are looking for a specific recepie. So heres the link

Good luck, and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

A big crock pot of Little Smokies and BBQ sauce
Cheese and crackers
Chips and Salsa, you can do a hot dip of Velveeta and no bean chili
For the meal do a couple of the big frozen Stoufer dinners. They have everything from lasagna to chicken alfredo, serve with a salad and garlic bread.

a chesse ball to dip crackers in and ranch dressing,5 pizzas uhh.....crakers,pretzels salad, spinich, spinich artochoke dip, nacho's,chesse, drinks, manays, sandwich's that's kinda all i can think of right now srry~~

How about putting out platters of antipasti - olives, pickles, fresh veggies, cheese, breads, Italian meats, spreads, etc.

You can provide quite a bit for little $$$ and not have to do alot of cooking - just arrange platters, trays and baskets. People can serve themselves and this kind of food does well at room temp so you can just put it out and not have to worry about serving.

If you want to make it more 'meal like' add a roast chicken or ham and a large salad with perhaps a pasta dish.

Black eyed peas or red beans, rice and greens and fried chicken wings, an inexpensive filling meal, by the time your guest finish eating this, they want very little, you can have some peel and eat shrimp, a spinach dip with crackers or crusty bread or quacamole. chips and french onion dip and champagne @ 12o'clock

If you have an M&M meat shop in your area, you can purchase many things there at very affordable prices that are just heat and serve.

Italian is the way to go. Pasta dishes are always inexpensive. Two good size lasagna's or pasta with meat sauce, parmesan cheese, garlic bread and a side salad and there, you have a party. For snacks throughout the night, put out some tortilla chips, salsa and pretzels and drinks. If you want to try something different which in my opinion is the best snack on the planet, get some pita pocket bread, cut it in 6 triangle pieces. open each triangle and divide into two. You get about 72 triangle to a package of pockets. Sprinkle with garlic flavored olive oil (buy or make) and tiny bit of salt and bake at 350F for about 5 minutes or until crispy. Purchase hummus as a dip for the chips.

Most people have had heavy holiday foods, so I would go with a cheese/ fruit tray and a mini croissant sandwich tray with some olives, pickles, etc. A nice pot of soup would also be a winner.
