You can do the gift card thing.. to different places like restaurants, stores, electronic stores, etc,
walmart, target and other stores sell ready made gift sets that are in the price range and are very nice also...

Make your own wine basket. You can purchase really good wine for cheap at Trader Joe's & World Market for $3-$10. Add 2 wine glasses, cheese, crackers, chocolate, items like that. Put it in a basket, add a bow!
