Anybody hate getting invited to Mary Kay parties? Or Partylite? Or Home Interiors?!
Answers: I'm really getting tired of all the "at home" parties where the hostess just wants to make money? What happened to friends getting together to hang out over a glass of wine? Why do I have to buy overpriced makeup, candles, jewelery and other junk?
Well, in general it starts out okay, One person has a party and invites her friends, problem is she probably has the same friends , that the next person that gives a party has.. No, I do not really care to be put on the spot or to put others on the spot. So, it is my policy to not book or go to partys .
the worst is the home made candle parties, half the time it looks like there 5 year olds did it in clay class and u cant be rude and not buy anything, haha happy holidays, i feel ya!
I do. If I wanted to buy something, I'd find someone who sold it out of their home, not pressure-parties. I used to love Mary Kay until you couldn't buy anything from them aside from a party. They'd just drop off the booklet, and I'd call in an order. Now if you mention MK, they don't sell, they want YOU to sign up and sell. I just wanted d**ned makeup! They're all such MLM rackets now.
Never go to those things, drippy, You do not have to go to these, no thank you!!
Well Honey....just beg out and don't go.....no problem. That lets others get your little gifts.
Well I go cuz I get a free makeover and find out of the sales and such.I will usually sign up to be a sales person if their start up is cheap and it includes products. It gives me the benefit of buying the products from myself at the discount price. If you have true friends then they will let you have it at the discounted price as well.
Everybody hates them. You are going to have to learn how to say no thank you. Certainly it is easier if you can come up with a good excuse or two. Good Luck!
Love them, Do what I do go to the party sign up for the door prize, eat the great snacks the hostess has made, get a free facial or whatever. hopefully win the door prize then, as the consultant gets ready to take the orders. Get up and leave without ordering a thing. Be sure to thank the hostess for inviting you. Trust me doing this a couple of times and you don't have to worry about getting invited because they will stop inviting you....
I generally love going to these parties, only because I enjoy catching up with my friends and it seems like its the only time I manage to get together with them. I usually buy stuff because I want to and if I don't feel pressured.
But I do hate it when the seller is pushy.
Ugh, I hate them and never go!
Yep, most definitely. Especially when the hostess never talks to you (or 80% of the invited guests) until she starts handing out invitations. We have one lady at work who has some kind of home party at least once a month. I think the only thing she hasn't had is a cardboard box party. Another lady is really bad about asking you if you're coming (company policy is you can put invites in everyone's mailbox, but not directly ask). I've gotten really good at saying no thanks, I don't need any ...
I'd rather spend the time at home with my kids than be pressured to buy overpriced stuff I don't need. :)
