Question: the cookies have to relate to an art theme. one example my teacher gave us is to make a palette and use M&Ms for the different colors. i was thinking of useing a gingerbread man(since xmas is coming up) and making him into a artists somehow, any ideas? i would also appreciate different ideas as well. thanks.

I have something that you probably could call abstract art. My mom use to make these when I was younger and I plan to make them myself for this x-mas. Very easy no baking involved either. See what you think.

CHOW MEIN NOODLE COOKIE DROPS

1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. butterscotch chips
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chow mein noodles

Melt chips in microwave. Mix in nuts and chow mein noodles. Spoon out, drop on waxed paper, cool.

You can makee candy canes

-hats
-santa claus
-snow flakes
-lights
-christmas trees
-an many moree things (:

You just need to use your imagination (:
Look around your housee,
if your building a christmas tree for christmas
you probably have decorations on it so
you can get ideas of those decorations (:

HOPEE THIS HELPS ALOT ! (:

You can make "stained glass" cookies that look a bit like stained glass. Just do a search online for that type of cookie and you'll get tons of ideas.

Another idea would be to make a mosaic out of cookies - but that would take a lot of work as you'd need to have different coloured cookies/dough/icing and cut them into squares to make a pretty pattern.

For something more simple - you could make the gingerbread cookies the traditional way, but paint/ice them all different colours or write a name of a different favourite artist on each one, like Monet, Da Vinci, etc.

You might make fancy Stained Glass Window cookies. Those can be really gorgeous.

how about making a cookie bouquet of different art supplies like brushes, palettes, crayons, markers, and some canvas with maybe half the picture painted on it already?! you can used sugar cookie dough- roll it out and cut it to the shape you want - paint it with food coloring and a brush and bake it (maybe do a tester to see if it works better to paint first or bake it first then paint)
looks like these http://www.cookiesbydesign.com/category....
or else how about rectangular one to look like a famous painting like the Mona Lisa or something? you can make a frame around it too with more cookie dough

HMMMM....
What about trying to do a paint brush cookie...
Like make the cookie in the shape of a stick (bigger then real paint brush stick) and then like 'glue'(use frosting of chocolate) a hershey kiss to the top...hmmm, sounds kinda weird...lol.
or trying to make them look like crayons or colored pencils...maybe color candy melts to red, blue, green, yellow, etc...and then pour the melted, colored candy melts over the cookies shaped like sticks...?...
hmmm, i keep thinking of craft ideas, not just art themed ideas....like making them look like buttons(for sewing)...
