How soon do I bake cupcakes if I'm giving them for Christmas?!

Question: I've decided to bake cupcakes and give away half a dozen or so to each of my family members. If I'm giving them away on the 24th and the 25th, when should I bake them? Do I just bake them the same day or can they be stored in the refrigerator for a day or so?

Cupcakes actually freeze well. You could bake them now, freeze them in a ziplock bag and then thaw them out before you ice them on the 23rd or 24th. Good luck:)

I do them the day of...better fresh then refrigerating them

Cupcakes have a tendency to dry out, so I would try to bake them the day of or even the day before. Keep them in a tightly-sealed container to retain their freshness.

No more then 1 day for storage. its best if its made the same day, but give yourself time to cool the cupcakes so the frosting doesn't melt off.

you can bake them now, wrap them in saran wrap, then wrap them in foil and then freeze them.
Take them out the day before you are going to give them out and frost and decorate them then, make sure they are thawed out before you frost though. And when thawing, LEAVE them wrapped...DO NOT unwrap them...the condinsation will form on the saran wrap rather then on the cupcake.
I would suggest putting a filling in the cupcakes also to help keep the moist inside...any type of jelly or jam may be used and you can actually bake the cupcakes with the filling in it (if using jelly or jam).

You can bake them now and freeze them, especially if you are doing a something like an applesauce or carrot cake cupcake. Wait to frost them until the last minute though.

If you do not want to freeze them, then do not bake them before the 23 and be sure that the frosting completely meets the paper all around. Small cakes go stale faster than large

I think you should make them a day or two before.

Bake them now & freeze them. Take them out in the morning of the day you intend to give them away and it will not take too long to defrost them. After they have defosted you can ice them. I do it all the time as treats for my grandchildren and they don't dry out. I do it with cakes as well.
