I am hosting a Holiday party for my husbands work team. What should I serve?!

Question: I was thinking of a spiral ham with scalloped potatoes (because it's easy). There will be around 18 adults.

Any ideas for something else that will be fairly low maintenance and sure to come out good? I would do a roast of some sort but I always worry it will end up dry. Ideas please!

A spiral ham and scallaped potatoes sounds like a good start. You probably need 2 hams to serve all of those people. Also, I would serve a lighter side dish in addition to the potatoes like some sort of vegetable (zucchini, broccoli, asparagus, etc.) or a garden salad. With a garden salad you really can't go wrong, because you can add whatever vegetables you have available (spinach or romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onion, green or red pepper, radishes, cucumber, etc.) I would also serve dinner rolls with the meal. You can buy dough that you bake in the oven and that way it is hot and fresh. For dessert, I would suggest serving pies -- store bought should be fine (you could do a couple different types like pumpkin, pecan or a fruit pie.)
Good luck!

green bean casserole is good with any meal! salad, pasta salad, cheesy potatoes in a crock pot would be good also. ham and rolls is fine!

A side dish you can make can be Greek Salad.

5-6 cucumbers-sliced about 1/2 inch thick
5-6 tomatos- cut into medium size cubes
1 red onion-thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper-cubed
Black Kalamata olives (pitted)
1 cup of feta cheese-cubed
Dash of oregano

Dressing-Lemon juice, salt and olive oil.
You can also use Italian dressing.
This salad should turn out great because you cant go wrong with flavor.

You can also make sweet potatos with brown sugar topped with marshmellows and baked in the oven for those who like a sweet side dish.

it has to be your spiral ham

i just had a holiday party for my neighbors. my menu was stuffed shells, spiral ham, tossed green salad, and parsleyed new potatoes. easy and good.

Baked Apples in the crock pot.

9 to 10 med. apples, cored & peeled
1/2 c. sugar
1/2c brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
half sick of butter

Put all in the crock pot cut the apples in bite size pieces. Stir occasionally, cook on low for about 4 or 5 five hours. Just untill tender. Also if you like raisins you can add that to the mix.

For 18 adults I'd offer another main meat dish, pork loin, turkey, whole chicken or a large pasta dish or some hyrbid like say chicken parmesan. I agree with the green bean casserole, stuffing is never a miss either.

I think the ham would be your safest. And the scalloped potatoes go good with ham. A green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, corn, rolls, a jello salad. Pies for dessert would be good. Don't forget the cool whip.

macaroni and cheese, green beans, broccoli with cheese
baked chicken with mushroon sauce, dinner rolls, fuit salad garden salad
