A box of nice candy - like pates de fruits, pralines, etcetera.
A box of cookies or biscuits of some sort.
Bouquet of flowers
Photo Album or frame
Artistic dish or bowl (last year I gave a hostess a set of mini-tapas/appetizer plates that sit on top of your glass or mug)
Soap sets

If it is during the holidays,try something to do with Christmas

Fudge

If it is during the Christmas holidays I suggest you could make Gingerbread cookies in little bags. I have a recipe if you want it?

Flowers or a plant, a beautiful dessert, or a fresh baked loaf of specialty bread.
You might also consider a gift basket of cheeses or fruits, or a combo of both.

a nice house plant or one of those Christmas Amaryllis bulb kits are very fragrant and pretty!

Chocolate!!! Ice Cream! Anything decadent...or extravagent. Flowers die. Maybe a Plant if you like.

Desert

I am taking a jar of homemade strawberry jam & a jar of homemade marmalade.

I will also be taking a tray of homemade cookies - 5 varieties to a another event.
