Ideas for a church, youth Christmas party?!
Answers: I'm helping put a Christmas party together for our youth/college and career classes at church. I need ideas, but mainly for games/ activities. It's a fairly small group. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks so much!
Do an ornament exchange and put a $5.00 limit on the cost and have them wrapped or bagged. Or if it's in your budget buy them yourself. Always have a couple extra for those that can't buy or forget to bring them. To exchange the ornaments play Dirty Santa. Before the game let the kids pick numbers corresponding to the number of people there (and the number of ornaments). Put the ornaments in the center and everyone pick in order of the number. Dirty Santa comes in because anyone who hasn't picked can take the ornament. Whoever gets their ornament can pick from the stack again.
Another game is to have a gift wrapped (this is where you can give away a Bible, prayer book, etc.) and you get a small box and dice, 2 potholders and a hat. Have everyone sit or stand in a circle and everyone has a chance to roll the die in the box until they roll a certain number. (ex-6) When a person roll the 6 they have a chance to unwrap the "present" while wearing the potholders and hat. The trick is that as they are unwrapping everyone else in the circle is still rolling and if someone else rolls the 6 they get to take off the hat and mittens to unwrap the gift. The other thing is to wrap the gift in several layers of wrapping paper. wrap the gift as if you were wrapping different gifts each time.

Password is a fun game for our age group I think. Scatergories as well... anything expressive and creative. If you have access to a basketball hoop you may want to organize a game of three-on-three. Have at least one off the wall food contest like see which guy can eat an ice cream cone the fastest and then chug the most tobasco sause without giving up... that's always fun. Finally, sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. I hope this helps.
