New Year's Eve food/drink ideas?!

Question: My sweetie and I are staying home this NYE. We're planning to watch movies and eat and drink. Any ideas on food or drinks that would make it extra-special? We're pretty lazy, so nothing too labor-intensive. Thanks!

My guy and I buy live lobsters and steam them! Plus we have shrimp cocktail and champagne...super easy but decadent! If we're feeling energetic, we add Filet Mignon's to the mix, otherwise the seafood does the trick! Nothing easier than throwing lobsters in a steamer...yum!

cookies, pie, cake, all of the good stuff

if you wanna get kinda crazy [[it being new years and all]]
you can get tiquilla and have a little party!
or
get a bottle or two of champainge and get some light food. like fish or something. and some kind of fruit tart for dessert.
its sure to be pretty romantic, trust me

A New Years Eve meal is supposed to be seafood. So, I would suggest maybe shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and maybe crab and whatever other veggies or potatoes you want for dinner. You gotta have champagne to celebrate the New Year, but then just have whatever other drinks you guys like.

There are so many picky bits that you will find in the supermarket, just get a few packs of the frozen snacks and cook when you feel like it. Most of the stuff only takes about 20 mins to cook in the oven. For example: Scotch eggs, sausage rolls, mini pizza, onion bhajis, samosas, spring rolls, mini sausages, chicken satays, chips, for desert: profiteroles, mince pies, chocolate[!!!], yule log, popcorn, doughnuts, sweets.

Have fun!

The traditional midnight snack at new year's with my family is shrimp cocktail - and it's easy! Buy the precooked shrimp and refrigerate to thaw on new year's eve. Then mix up some cocktail sauce (horseradish & ketchup) and enjoy. If you want more nosh, I would get ready-made hors d'oeuvres from a specialty store (trader joes if you have it there) like stuffed mushroom caps and little quiches. That way all you have to do is pop them in the oven.

Have fun!

well defff. champangni when and if you watch the ball drop in NYC. then maybe a cheeseball theyre pretty fast to make, easy too. Then maybe some "pickies" like chips, dip, popcorn. if you want you can go to www.foodnetwork.com and at the top type in "New Years" itll give you a list of stuff you can do. and a bunch of ideas. Have fun!!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

Sparkling white wine to start and champagne for when the clock strikes 12. As for food, you should probably have finger foods like mini sandwiches, trail mix, etc.

HOT CRANBERRY PUNCH

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
l/2 teaspoon nutmeg
l teaspoon cinnamon
l/2 teaspoon allspice
l/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 can jellied cranberry sauce
4 cups water
l quart unsweetened pineapple juice
l tablespoon butter
l cup diced fresh pineapple

Combine the brown sugar with the spices and add l cup of water. Bring to a boil in a large kettle. Add the cranberry sauce, crushing with a wooden spoon. Add 3 cups of water and stir until smooth. Pour in the pineapple juice and simmer for 5 minutes. Just before serving add l tablespoon of butter. Add diced fresh pineapple, while the punch is simmering. The fruit absorbs the punch flavor and is a tasty bonus in the cup.

when my husband and i spend the night home alone without our son... we normally just buy some nice steaks and grille them... baked potatoe with all the toppings...
we buy fattening desserts
and drink :)
