Best way to transport cheesecake?!


Question: A chocolate pumpkin cheesecake is currently baking in my kitchen. This is for a holiday party at my husband's office. I want to place it on an etched glass serving plate.

Here's my question:

What is the best way to cover the cheesecake during transport? I don't have tupperrware tall enough to accomidate the height without ruining the top of the cake. Any suggestions? (I'm actually counting on Christopher for this one but all would be helpful!) Thanks!

Hey Jenny, Christopher to the rescue!!!

If you're baking the cheesecake in a spring form pan (the kind that the sides pop off for easy removal of the cheesecake) leave it on for transport.......cover the top of the spring form pan with cling wrap or aluminum foil.......



When you get to the hubby's office, unmold the cheesecake by removing the sides of the spring form pan and gently place it on your etched glass plate.....keeping it on the bottom insert (the part that holds the crust) prevents the knife during the cutting process from damaging the plate that it's resting on........I've made the pumpkin cheesecake before, and it will be gone before you know it.......BTW, for easy cutting, take a tall clean plastic container (think: Big Gulp) and fill it with very hot water and dip your knife in it for about 10 seconds and wipe it dry and then immediately slice the cheesecake......this results in "picture perfect" cuts.......Let me know how things turn out!!! ADDENDUM!!!!

Jenny, let it cool COMPLETELY at room temperature (this takes about 2 hours) and then chill it overnight.......that helps the cake set and the flavors to meld together.....Patience, there, kiddo!!! It will also cut easier if chilled for 24 hours before serving......

Well I usually take an empty box and surround with paper to cushion movement (side to side).

plastic wrap.

****no no better yet just have someone in the bacvk seat with you to hold it. that way u wont mess up the top.

Insert toothpicks into the top and cover it will saran wrap, then loosely wrap foil over it. The toothpicks will stop the wrap from touching the cheesecake.
