i think it's a wonderful idea and one suggestion for activities is a scavenger hunt. also maybe have eveyone bring something from the theme of your party and exchange with the other partygoers. i saw a grown up tea party that was themed after Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter Tea Party and it was really awesome! good luck! p.s. i love hats at a tea party!

Make different shaped tea sandwiches with cookie cutters. Heart shaped, what ever you can find to cut into a shaped sandwich. Can even make triangles. Remember, don't forget to remove the crust. Have everyone take part (of course not in their good clothes), then have everyone get dressed up. But before you dress up bring or buy simple hats and decorate them. Maybe have some fun and do hair and makeup. Wear your hats. Make yourself look different. Have fun!

No your not childish, i think it will be a lot of fun. Offer scones and cucumber sandwiches (cut the crust of the bread, and cut the sandwiches small) like you would have at a real English tea party. If Boys & Girls are coming, have the guys all dress black & white and the ladies red & white. That might be fun to see what they all come dress in, ask all your females friend to wear a fancy hat (or had all the girls) come in dresses. Maybe a good friend would be willing to dress as a waiter and he can serve the tea and the sandwiches, maybe you can serve non alcoholic sparkling wine and strawberries dipped in chocolate, and end the afternoon with a nice sponge cake with a cream/jam center.

Here's a game I played at my friend's 60th birthday.
Arrange a list of famous people in pairs, like Anthony and Cleopatra, Bogart and Bacall, Abbott & Costello, &c. only do it from Alice in Wonderland!
Now write each name on a slip of paper and pin it to each party attendee. Each pair needs to find each other by only asking Yes or No questions. The first pair to accurately match themselves wins.

Have each guest bring something special to share. Read about it here.
