you could go w/a variety of themes -

-color(s) - pick one or two colors, and get everything - the food, the decorations, in that/those colors. i.e. black and white, silver, pink, etc.

polka dots/plaid - fun and sorta more unique.

pajamas - sounds kid-y, but fun!!!

animals- cheetah, zebra, weird and hard to find stuff for, but still fun

you gals fave hobby/sport - soccer, football, singing/music

carnival - have cotton candy, nachos, etc. have every1 dress up all crazy, and buy some face paint.

decade - 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s

hope this helped!!!

black and white theme is fun and wintery. everybody that attends has to wear something either black and white. plates, napkins and decorations can be black and white.

and as the host, you can wear red and throw everybody off!

Winter Wonderland... have a vodka bar.

Decade parties are always so fun! You can make it a specific time period, or let guests choose which decade they'd like to dress up from.

Pimp & "ho" parties are great - especially if you can get guys to wear ho costumes!

Masquerade party - make masks or have each guest make and wear their own. The element of mystery makes things a bit more magical.

Where will the party be? If you can have the heat turned way up, have a beach party. Everyone can wear their beach clothes and you can serve lemonade, popsicles, hot dogs, and other typical summer foods

There is nothing like a very classic costume ball! No one ever does those anymore.

#1 rule: No one gets in with out a mask on.
It's fun because it's hard to find a mask or costume so far after halloween, and so people end up with much better, well thought out costumes.

Prized for best cosutme, best mask, most creative idea, ect ect ect

With all of that color from the masks, I would say go with a very elegant look for the area white table linens, with black accents.
I would offer something to eat and drink but something light. No formal dinner because you want people up dancing, and of course at the stroke of midnight the masks come off so touch up your eye makeup and lipstick at 11:45 :)

There is just something very enchanted about a masked ball.

Another option is to pick a country, like Thailand, have Thai food, and decorate with Thai fabrics and deep rich colors and wear a pretty thai wrap skirt. Also Thai dancing is typically done barefoot so shoes off!

There are a lot of great counties you can pick from too,
Bollywood would be another great one! Indian music is so easy to dance too, and the food is good. Again have red yellow and pink fabric everywhere, and hire someone to do henna tattoos on the two of you the day before the party so you two really stand out!

good luck!

How about "Everyone Wears a Tie" - it doesn't matter what they're wearing, just as long as they have a tie around their necks. You could have some extras for anyone who may have forgotten them.

Sadie Hawkins Day parties can be fun. The girl asks the guy and everybody dresses like farmers or hillbillies. You can get one of your guy friends (or your Dad) to be "Marryin' Sam" and have weddings complete with marriage licenses made from the computer. RC Cola and Moon Pies could be served. Very casual and fun!

If you like the carnival ideal, go for it. Here's a site that has ideas for a carnival party for younger kids, but you could age the ideas up. http://www.childavenue.com/pages/birthda...

I bet you could get cheap prizes at a dollar store.
