My dad's turning 70 this week, what would be a nice treat to serve at the party next week?!

Question: I can bake like a champ, just so you know, I'm looking for how to decorate cakes or cupcakes, not just a 70 on everything.

Look at the year he was born -what was happening that year? something with the war - or whatever he is interested in or was before he retired. You could all kinds of different ways with this - and enjoy your dad. We don't get to keep them that long!!!

make cakes or cookies he likes

Write his birth year (1935 I think) or DD/MM/YY

If he's not married or has been widowed for awhile ... I know my dad would consider a 25 year old woman a real "treat".

OK: I did this for my mother. Here goes champ baker; Bake one cake square and one cake round.

Take the square cake and cut a portion out of it to make a 7 shape.
Take the round cake & cut a portion out of the centre to make a 0 (zero)

Now you have two cakes .....7.....0

Use meringue (probably need 6 egg whites) coat both cakes lifting your spatula to make peaks and then use a kitchen torch to brown the meringue or put under the grill to brown. Instead of candles use sparklers a few only on each cake.

cream puffs are easy to make & yummy!
