Mystery Party...?!
Answers: My daughter is having her 14th birthday party next year in september but we decided to plan now. She is a mystery fanatic and would be pleased if we could throw a mystery party. Like the kind where they take place in the 50's and someone dies and everyone dresses up and is a character. I don't know how to go about this, I need help. If you have had a party explain what you did.
There are a number of sites that offer downloadable mystery party kits. Here is one example: http://www.dinnerandamurder.com/
Look in your local toy store in the board game section. You should be able to find mysteries in a box there. You might also try the bookstores. They'll be titled "How to Host a Murder" or "Murder Mystery Party." Check out Amazon.com too. Check out this website for "How to Host a Murder" http://howtohost.fanhq.com/
i went to a party a while ago and there was a theme. we all had to dress up as a certain mystery person and we each had a dress code [we got that in the mail]. then we show up all dressed up at the party and there is a whole mystery like who killed the teacher or something. then we find clues and have a hunt and run around the house or wherever you are and one of the party guests is the killer [but they do not know it] it is a great party and its really fun. good luck and have fun!
idk if it counts, but set up a hollywood theme. have a photobooth with a backround of film rolls and a sign that says "star attractions". have everyone dress star-worthy to go with the flow of the occasion. have everything hollywood based. im 13 myself, so i thought it was cool. if u need anymore help. my email address is hydrolic19@yahoo.com. glad to help!!
I just hosted a murder mystery for my daughter.
It was called "killing for the crown" and it was the "teen appropriate" version. (yes, there is backstabbing and murder, but it is pg)
www.nightofmystery.com was where I purchased it for around 40 dollars, you get the complete script and parts and instructions.
I did the Miss Teen USA murder (killing for the crown) because most of the guests were girls, although there were optional parts for five males.
I bought tiaras for everyone, and makeup for party favors.
The costumes were gorgeous, and the girls kind of liked the excuse to dress like Miss Teen, even though some are goth or tomboy (after all, it is acting, right?)
We had dance music, dance party, horsdourves, sparkling white grape juice in plastic champagne glasses, very elegant dinner dance party. It was fun. Just make sure nobody who is overly sensitive is the murder victim, ask your daughter if there is anybody who might feel bad if they are the victim...then hand out parts accordingly.
It was a huge success and everyone was talking about it.
