For those who hosted Xmas, do you return unused groceries to the store for a refund?!

Question: I spent so much money on food hosting this party! I will have to walk into the store to return at least 3 bags full. Is this acceptable?

Yes as long as you have the receipt, nothing is perishable and not opened.

Freeze it and use it later. What happened? No one showed up?

I have never done that before but I suppose if it was not perishable it would be okay...

No. I'd save it for later.

Absolutly NOT

That's an excellent question...I wouldn't think that this would be acceptable due to the fact that people could somehow contaminate the items and put others in danger, but if you do try to take the unused items back and they accept them, please let me know. I've got tons of snack crackers & chips that I'll never eat that we didn't use today. I sure hope you had a wonderful holiday and Happy New Year to you!!!

It wouldn't be to me.

Note, they are not likely to take perishables back.

They are unlikely to take it back. Once removed from the store anything could have happened to the groceries. They can't take the chance that the food MIGHT be contaminated. The other choice might be to donate the food to a local charity or a church. The worst that can happen would be they would say no. Otherwise, save those groceries for a New Year's Party.

please try and let us no!!!! cause we have tuns of junk that every1 loves but i dont and dont want!

It would not be appropriate to take back things you bought for your party and because they were not used ou want to take them back. Give them out as Xmas gifts or to charity i'm sure there are persons who would love them and who will appreciate them, anyway it's Christmas give while you can and taking those back won't benefit anyone but...

no give the to a church or a food kitchen

Donate it to crossroads. They need it desperateley. Thats what my family does, at least once a month I drive up to crossroads with 3 or 4 bags of donations.
