Which is better to make for a Christmas Party, stronger coffee or milder coffee?!
Answers: Mild some people may not like the stronger stuff
I think most people would prefer it mild maybe with a touch of some alcohol in it. I don't like the alcohol but maybe some Cinnamon or vanilla in it.
I would go with a lighter roast coffee, but make sure that you use enough coffee per cup of water.
Good coffee flavor comes out of the ground bean during the first 1/2 or so of the water for the entire pot of coffee. After that, the water starts to dissolve the acids which make the coffee taste bad. So the trick is to get more of the good coffee flavor to compensate for any of the "off" flavors that leach out later in the brew cycle.
To avoid bad coffee, use a high quality freshly roasted (in this case, a medium roast), freshly ground coffee bean, use the recommend amount for the quantity of water you are using, and PLEASE do not use tap water - go for the bottled water you will be glad that you did.
One other note - the lighter the coffee roast, the higher the caffeine content. So, a lighter roast will keep your party guests wide awake, and ready to go
