You need to go up to each guest during the party, and let them know how excited you are that they came. It is nice if you can do this no more then a few minutes after they walk thru the door.
This not only makes your guests feel welcome, but it makes them feel like they have a special connection with the host of the party. Everyone wants to feel important.
After everyone has arrived, it is your job to keep a look out for anyone who seems to be standing alone, or seem to not be enjoying themselves. This would be the time for you to introduce them to some of your other guests.

make sure to talk with all your guests-don't stay by the same people all night
make sure to get outsiders involved in conversations- you know your work friends to mingle with your other friends-stuff like that
