I do not see the difference between your version of a tea party and an 'old lady tea party' What do you think older women do at tea parties. The eat, drink tea and gossip. No difference. Eat what ever you like. a selection of small sandwiches is traditional.

Tea party ideas
There are a selection of tea to choose from:
White Tea is not allowed to oxidize at all as the leaves are steamed, rolled and dried immediately.
Green Tea has little oxidization as the leaves are steamed, rolled and dried soon after picking.
Oolong tea falls somewhere between green and black teas because the leaves are only partially oxidized.
Step up procedures:
- The formal tea is usually set up on a large table with two services at opposite ends of the table.
- These services contain one for tea
- The middle of table is arranged in buffet style to include the dishes, cups, silverware, food items and napkins.
- This is an excellent time to use your pretty china cups, your silver hollowware items, silver tea service set and other fine hostess items.
- In formal ways, the hostess or designated friends actually seat themselves at the ends of the table to serve the guests.
Set up your Tea Tray as follows:
- Large Silver or Decorative Tray
- Silver Teapot or other
- Small plates
- Napkins
- Pitcher of Milk
- Bowl of sugar lumps with sugar tongs (or bowl of sugar with spoon)
- Small saucer with lemon or lime slices with a small fork
- Cups & saucers
- Teaspoons & Forks
- Cake or other food items

Cookies, cup cakes, flowers, music, and something that is all u?

The best thing about a tea party apart from the best china you can get your hands on is the quality of cakes you serve. Can you get access to a 3 tiered silver serving tray?

Either make the nicest little individual cakes you can with as much variety as you can - ie. mouse chocolate cakes, colored macaroons, custard cakes. Include on the tray sultana scones served with a side of jam and cream, and on the bottom layer delicious little sandwich quarters fresh brown bread with no crusts. It would be great to set it up the room like a Parisian Tea House with a lovely set table.

See http://www.laduree.fr/index_fr.htm for a little inspiration or look up other patissier websites in Paris such as Lenotre.

Make sure all the girls get very dressed up as well, and as the hostess make sure you brush up on your serving and conversation skills. Sounds great - can I come?

You can have your guests make their own tea bags. You can buy little tea bags, empty of course, and set up a variety of flavored tea. Everyone can make their own and it's a fun activity.
