Cake and punch kind of remind me of a high school prom. Maybe some coffee and cake. That would be good..
If they don't like coffee they should just drink water.. lol j/k
For our museum openings, the cooks put interesting appetizers out first.
Anything with two or more ingredients and imagination makes an interesting topping for a good cracker or slice of thin bread.
This goes with punch, and the cake can be used as a closer, with coffee for those who want the alternative.
Appetizers are easy and not too expensive; you do have to make them up ahead of time, or leaves cheese and a knife for people to serve themselves.
