Well that's a lot of information. Hot foods, snacky foods? Cheeses? If people are going to be drinking alcoholic beverages, just make sure there's plenty to eat... not just nuts and chips. I would suggest a mixture of hot and cold appetizers. A selection of nice cheeses with crackers is always nice. Here are a few recipes for things I sometimes serve at a party.
CHEESE LOG
This is a fun one, and the ingredients will surprise you. Don’t let this simple cheese fool you though. Once the seasonings are mixed in and the log is rolled in a combination of luscious, flavorful seasonings, your family or guests will think it’s a gourmet cheese. I guarantee you they would never guess what it really is, and will be asking you for the recipe. This recipe calls for paprika. I recommend a good sweet Hungarian paprika for better flavor. I use it whenever I need paprika for anything, even if it’s just a garnish.
● 16 oz. pkg. Velveeta Cheese (makes 2 logs)
● 2 tbsp garlic powder (or to taste)
● ? cup chopped walnuts
Equal parts:
● paprika
● nutmeg
● chili powder
● Bring the cheese to room temperature. In a small bowl put cheese and add garlic powder and chopped walnuts. Mix well.
● divide mixture in half and shape each into approximately 6” logs
● mix paprika, nutmeg & chili powder together and place on waxed paper.
● roll each log in spice mixture, making sure to cover completely.
● wrap each log in plastic wrap, then in foil and refrigerate.
● take cheese log(s) out about ? hour before serving.
CREAMCHEESE & CRABMEAT SPREAD WITH CRACKERS
(If you want super-simple, try crabmeat & cream cheese with cocktail sauce on top as a spread served with crackers)
Bring cream cheese to room temperature, drain crabmeat, add to softened cream cheese, and mix well. Place in small container, cover and refrigerate. About 20 mins before ready to serve, turn out into bowl, and pour cocktail sauce over the top. Put in center of a nice serving platter and put crackers around it.
COCKTAIL MEATBALLS & HOTDOGS
Ingredients
Chafing dish & sterno
toothpicks
lg. pkg (or 2 pkgs) hotdogs* (don’t use the kind that plump when ya cook ‘em!)
Meatballs
2-3 lbs. gr. beef
2 tsp fresh garlic – crushed
salt & pepper
2 eggs (1 egg/lb. of gr. beef)
1 tbs. parsley
Sauce
2/3 to 1 cup grape jelly
2 lg. bottles barbecue sauce
Salt & pepper to taste
sm. can tomato sauce (Optional)
2 tbs garlic powder
2-3 tbs brown sugar
1 tsp. dry mustard
water if desired for volume and desired thickness
Directions
1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, mix all sauce ingredients
2. In large bowl, mix all ingredients for meatballs thoroughly with hands
3. Roll mixture into approx. 1” balls
4. Add meatballs and hot dog pcs. to sauce and cover
5. Cook on low heat (light boil) for a minimum of 2 hours. Stir occasionally.
6. Keep warm until ready to serve. Place in chafing dish and keep warm with sterno
7. Place on table with container of toothpicks and cocktail napkins and small plates
* You could certainly use cocktail franks for this recipe, but they are MUCH more expensive than cutting up a few pkgs. of hot dogs.
* If you don't have a chafing dish, just make sure you serve this dish hot in an attractive serving piece/bowl.
I would do appetizers and finger foods. From crackers and cheese, spinach dip with bread bowl, fruit with dip, crock pot meatballs, shrimp plate, scallops wrapped in bacon, variety of desserts, pigs in a blanket, chicken strips or wings, potatoe skins, chips and dips.
Make some sangria, signature cocktail, keep your work to a minimun so you can also enjoy the party.
Happy new year.

Good luck and have a good night !
Keep it simple - people will be drinking and won't want anything they can't recognize.
We once went to a party where everyone took a main dish, that was amazing, curries, cottage pies, steak pies, liver and onions even !! I have to say that one was the best I remember there was simply everything you could imagine - it was far better than sausage rolls and warm sandwiches.
I love to see sausage rolls or meat pies on New Years Eve and vegetable platters with a variety of dips.
you buy a bottle or two of wine, add scented candles some nibbles on sticks and invite me,fall in love, live happily ever after and dont worry about what to do next year xxx
