How much should i pay him?!


Question: i want to get some mc to write a song and perform it at my sisters party how much should i pay him. its going to be a pretty big party its a quinceanera. hes not signed or anything he just some average joe making good music.

Well you are also paying him to write the song...first off who will own the rights to that song?
I would pay about 70-100 bucks for that song alone, maybe towards 50 if you won't own it.

If he's only then singing that one song then you would pay him something like 80 bucks ..on top

If he will be performing other songs then i would pay about $300 tops. Afterall it depends on how long you want this person to perform/hang around for.

Did you ever hear that the laborer is worth his hire? It is not a matter of how much you should pay but a matter of how much he will accept. How much he will accept is the important number - at least it is if you want him to write the song for you! Report It

  • Best avenue is ask how much he wants? Then negotiate within your budget....

    I don't quite remember, but I think the going rate is $150. Like I said, I don't remember, and the price could have gone up.

    Have you asked him? Start there and if it seems like more than you feel comfortable paying, say no. I'll bet he would come down on the price if you did.

    I wouldn't pay a whole lot... the publicity you would be providing should at least be considered part of the payment.
