Dining Experience?!

Question: Me & a friend do dinner every Wednesday just to get together and catch up. We started a theme of trying a new cuisine style everytime to keep it exciting... so far we've tried indian, fondue style, all american basic... what are some other ideas for an authentic dinning experience? And if you are in Maryland, throw some names out there please :)

Sounds like a fun idea you have! We used to do a theme dinner at home, asking each couple to bring a dish related to that cusine. Each month we would meet at a different house. Wine and dessert was included.

Indian, fondue and Dennys - is that it? Yellow Pages... *sigh*

I assume that rightow must be cold in Maryland so when I think of a suggestion I close my eyes and picture a cool place w/fireplace and nice juicy meat. I believe German food is rich in protein and carbohydrates as well, try to find if in your local town there's a place where you find cozy, warm atmosphere and beef plates with potatoes and vegetables or oh my god, Spanish food is one of the best.

Some good answers here ... but if you can find an Indonesian restaurant - try one of their "rice tables". I think they are 12 to 22 courses depending on the menu and it's a great culinary experience. But watch out for the hot sauces! Fire! Fire!

Also, you should save some cash for the finest culinary experience. If there are any exceptional chefs in your area, you might want to call the restaurant and ask if there is a "chef's menu" or "chef's table". If you get a reservation (it won't come cheap) you will be served all of the best that chef creates that sitting - and he/she will likely come out and explain the dish in person. It's really the ultimate!

Bon apetit!

My sister in law took us out to a Moroccan (sp?) restaurant once. The food was incredible, so was the atmosphere. They even had belly-dancers.
