I'm throwing a 50th b-day party 4 mom and want it to be special.i have invited friends and family.suggestions?!

Question: I can help!
First, is it a suprise party? If so invite her old friends and your family members and look through her old yearbooks to see if she circled anyone or wrote comments. If so they were probally good friends and try to get in touch with them! This will truley make your mom feel great when she see's her BFF.
Now, For a suprise party you need 1 person to lure her to the party and make up an exuse why you are going where you are. Then when you walk in make sure everyone yells suprise together. I did a party like this for my Grandmother (well I helped my mom planned) and it was so good! Everyone was happy and when she walked in her face was too funny!
Ok now thatt your mom is in make it so she does not want to go out! The party might be costly but it's for your mom. Food's are important, maybe there is a food she likes and they don't make it where she lives. GET THAT FOOD! That will be her muncher. Also, get party foods like an assortment of crackers chips and dip. There should be mini foods which you can pick up in your grocery stores frozen isle for a very cheap price. Those mini foods will keep guest happy before the main meal. For the main meal pick your mom's favorite type of food. Italian? French? Chinese? Whatever it is, find a catorer in you area serving that type of food and you will enjoy. Make sure there is a a tasty cake there. Get it personalized or to make it very special you and some of your family members could make it just the way she likes. This should be a tasty party!
For Entertainment there should be a DJ. There should be a song for your mom and dad to dance to and one for you and your mom. There should also be that "groovy" music older people like. (LIKE MY MOM!) Also, who will be there. If it's adult's which there probally is hire a comedian. If there also is kids maybe get a clown to keep them busy and not bugging the adults. It would be cool to have the DJ make everyone get up and dance there favorite songs. Make sure you hire a good DJ who knows what he is doing and keeps the guest alive. He should try to interact with the guest. When you book him also ask to have ameeting to let him know what you want at the party. Rock on!
Ok now where will it be? You shoould rent out a large room at a hotel! That would be perfect. It is costly but it will be worth it. Now I hope your party is perfect.
P.S- I really worked hard on my answer plz pick me for best answer!

my daughter did that for me and it was the best birthday i ever had... she had invited people from my childhood that i was still in contact with and it was so nice to see them all again...plus of course the family members... think back to different conversations you have had with her of her "dreams" or wishes and take the clue from there... maybe make a "theme" of her dream... some people hate surprises.. hope she doesnt... i cried when i seen everyone,i was so surprised... it was great.. and i will always have those memories tucked inside me forever.....good luck

You might see if you can contact old, old friends from college or HS that she hasn't seen in forever (Xmas card only friends).

See if you can make a collage of old photos (maybe an aunt or uncle has some old family shots that you could scan and add in).

Before the party, you might want to treat her to a spa day or the like so she isn't around for the preparations.

:)

Today is my husbands birthday. I got him a Mo-Jo gram from his favorite band. "Mean Gene Kelton & the Diehards" My Husband really loved this. Gene makes a CD with things that you like. It was really great. Only $15.00. Go To Gene Kelton web site to order.

I threw a 60th birthday party for my mother-in-law last year. We had it at a VFW and had the food catered from a local Italian place. We had her best friend make up the guest list of friends because she knows everyone my mother-in-law would want there. We invited family members. We picked out 2 colors we know she likes and that was our color theme. We had balloons on the tables instead of flowers cause it looks more festive and fun. We had matching table clothes and napkins as well. The only thing we could not figure out were the favors. My sister did a lot of research and found a great place for favors: www.anyatylerfavors.com they were really great! We chose personalized chocolate bars with my mother-in-laws picture on it. They really came out great.
Whatever you do, make a list of things you need and ideas you might have and I'm sure it will work out great!

When, what are her interests? Forget the "Over the Hill" stuff, no one likes to be reminded of that! I would work around her interests, cooking, sewing, sports, shopping? and chose a theme.
