You need to make a serious choice...You need to stand by your best friend and her birthday, even though it may not be the so called party of the year. A true best friend will be there for you, when your other so called good friends, are long gone. When you graduate high school and everyone goes there way, that best friend will still be your friend....I still have my BF from my HS days 20+ years later, and my so called friends...I couldnt tell you where half of them are now....

go to the birthday party and if it ends early take her to the winter break party

Go to your best friend's party.

Generally one would attend the party that one was invited to first. In this case though, if your best friend is having only a small party and she has been your best friend for a long time, you may very well damage the friendship permanently by choosing the Winter Party over her birthday. And I assume that your BF has not been invited to the Winter Party, since she has scheduled her birthday party for that time.

A good way to decide what the right thing to do is to put yourself in your best friend's place. How would YOU feel if it was your birthday and she decided to go to a party you had not been invited to instead of coming to your birthday party?
