Answers: So far we invited about 50 people because he doesnt like it to big and we hiring a place and caterers. Now i just need some funky ideas to make it extra special since im his only daughter. We thinking bout a presentation on a projector but it might not work out for a number of reasons and i would like something much more original and special if possible.

how about trivia to read to the audience about the year he was born.
Popular music,
price of gas, milk, eggs, a house
etc
Hooker
take him to a strip club he will enjoy that
think of what he likes
4 his presents, try to giv something simple. and fun.
Stripper....... nah sorry
Yeah i'd go with the projector if you can, maybe get in a couple of his friends that he hasn't seen in ages, like a kind of re-union or something.
How about writing the lyrics to a song for him? You could use a song like "My Way" and put in some funny stuff about his life.
live band singing his favorite songs, which probally would be old skool
a bodybag, coffin, a colon cancer exam, bible to find god
When we threw a 50th for my dad we invited lots of people from all parts of his life going back to his elementary school days, not just his current circle of friends. Many of these people hadn't seen him much since the time they had connected. It made for a very fun and social party
Well, my first thought was to gather together as many good pictures from his life; from birth to present and do a slideshow with music appropriate for the different eras of his life. But, another thought is to rent him a Corvette for the weekend. Or hire a band of has-beens to play music from his time.
being 50 myself, my kids did it right. 50 people is alot but i see the 50 --- 50 thing. they invited me out and we went to red lobster and their were like 8 other tables of people had been told it was an informal thing. all sang happy birthday and it was kinda intimate yet open to friends. some i didnt think liked me that much. i collect baseball cards and got like
45 different boxes of packs of cards. if he collects hats cards model cars make it a theme gift suggestion. and all guys love sports stuff. i got an original dallas cowboys varsity warm up jacket its in an honored place. but mostly i was 50 and was surrounded by the ones i cared the most about so i was happy
Depends on what your father likes.
Something simple should be fine. If you don't know
what to do, slip it into conversations with your dad and
make sure he doesn't know about it.. Try something totally
new and wild.. Big cake, games, drinks.. Stuff like that, and
try the "conversation slipping" because it would help. Start talking to your dad about something random then say "What
kinds of stuff do you like?" and then if he asks why, just say your curious, and that your trying to make conversation.
This should work, Happy 50th for your Father
and good luck to you!
you could make him a memory dvd with moviemaker, set it to music and do picture slideshow from his past and up to the present day- and end with a full screen *happy 50th dad* these are the things money cant buy! you could also put it in a basket of stuff he likes- blockbuster gift voucher, peanuts, beer, toiletries, a scarf?? etc etc
HUMMMMMMM,,,, lets see, I'm almost 50 and it sounds like your on the right tract,,Depending on your dads sense of humor,,,?? You could have all the guests wear black,,,or have them dress like the 50's when your dad was born,,,50 people are alot even if your dad doesn't like big crowds,SO it might be hard to get all to Participate in the above ideas,,Good Luck and Happy Birthday to DAD>>>>PS..also think disco?
Take it from the master a nice simple dessert my father turned 50 last year
here you go
Double Banana Bread
Actually this extra special Banana Bread originated on a Post “Banana Nut Crunch” breakfast cereal box. Malinda had about 3 real ripe bananas on a Sunday morning in early July 2002, so she tried this. Since we were out of walnuts, Malinda substituted pecans and it turned out wonderful.

If a slide show is not possible do a table of tribute full of photo's of your dad through out his life, don't forget a guest book for fun comments and memories.
You might have 50 penguins, ducks, flamingos what ever
Have a special birthday boy T shirt made with say grey power or fabulous and fifty on it.........they are cheap to get made.
I'm sure lot's will come up with better ideas but you now have my ten cents worth.
Good luck and above all have fun fun fun...
If the place has a movie screen and you are good with a computer, you could gather a whole bunch of media clips that have meaning to your dad and create a media show to run on the screen during the event. I did this for my high school reunion and it was a total success. From the net download movie trailers, commercials, news clips, sports highlights, etc. It could be from the year he was born, or just clips that are favorites throughout his life. Mix in some home video and pictures, like media from his wedding, your birth, maybe his first hair cut or baseball game, and you have something unique, memorable and fantastic. Transport him and your guests down memory lane, through your father's eyes, with the use of multimedia. If you can't do this yourself on a computer, maybe you have a friend that is computer savvy.
If you don't have a computer you could pull the same thing off with pictures, newspapers, and old magazines, mounting them on poster boards strategically placed around the hall, although it wouldn't have as spectacular effect but the gesture would be well received.
OR, being his only daughter, why don't you and he do something special, together, the just the two of you. Like take him to a ball game or camping.
Hi there Jennifer,
Try and find a friend from his high-school days if you have the time... regardless, remember that he''s starting to feel old so make a joke out of it, like a bond-fire permit for his birthday cake, and having 7 firemen carry it in for him... that sort of thing.
And for that matter, being served for a paternity suite at the party can be fun, or your presenting him with another mouth to feed with your new adopted sister...
Dear Jennifer ,What are some of your Dad's hobbies?Does he like rock in roll? talks about an old friend from highschool or college?Did He have a favorite car or even a first car he put together in the garage?Old forty fives ,vinyl records, visits or phone calls from old friends,or army buddies etc ,parts from the first car made into a lamp or paper weight make great gifts because they show thought and love went into them. Also that toy or car ,model airplane or trip he always asked for when he was a kid but never got to have, make great gifts.Think about it ,maybe even dream about it ! the perfect gift will appear.
for my grandpa's 65 birthday we just invited friends and family to my house and made the theme the 40's and 50's like in the years he was growing up he really liked and strippers are not appropiate for your dad's b-day
