Answers: I'm having my wedding rehersal dinner at my parents house. Any ideas for themes? or menus?
Italian is perfect. You can make the pasta ahead of time and it will be ready when you are, for example pasta and sauce, lasanga, salad, garlic knots, maybe meatballs or sausage, yum and done. And don't forget those yummy special Italian cookies on the large trays sprinkled with jordon almonds.
Old fashioned Italian restaurant theme decorations. Wine bottles with candles, red checkered table cloths, white twinkle lights, lots of soft music. Put out lots of old wedding pictures, possibly of the parents, grandparents, special guests. Rekindle their memories and begin to make your own. It will be a special memory for sure.
if it's @ your parents, maybe bbq or buffeet. that is a LOT of work for anyone ... if you are catering though ... hummmm, you could go 'ethnic' (mexican, irish, italian) ...
Semi-formal dinner: Try chicken, potatoes, salad, veggies, and some sort of dessert like sherbet or cakes.
Casual - BBQ or pasta with all the stuff that goes with it, ie meatballs, sausage, garlic bread salad. Ice Cream is good for dessert and simple.
My favorite theme is where are you going for your honeymoon? France do french food, Italy do Italian etc...
Or if one of you has an interesting cultural background that might be fun to bring out.
This way you can have the food catered or you could see about hiring a personal chef to create a menu and cook the food.
