I'm having my daughter's 1st birthday party in 2 weeks. I need help with the menu!?!

Question: I've bought things like mini corn dogs and I am planning on making meatballs (easy) but I need a main dish idea & more side items. Any ideas??? Thanks!

I have my son's 1st bday this Friday and I think I'll do some Tea sandwiches cut into Stars and Triangles. Maybe some Meatballs from Sandra Lee's Semi-homemade, and just Cookies, Cake, and Ice Cream but the Menu isn't set in stone so I'll mostlikly get pizza or something too.
Good Luck!

Just buy a frozen lasagna and some garlic bread for the adults. That way you can do the important thing and enjoy your friends, family.

As for side items, a veggie tray with dip and some chips. Things people can munch on while talking and having fun. Abowl of mixed nuts. Maybe a bowl of candy at adult eye level for the sugar fiends.

As for drinks, a permanent marker and some juice boxes, the tiny juicy juice ones for the wee ones and whatever else for the adults.

everyone likes pasta.

get some fettucini noodles. figure 1 pound per 6-8 adults. (real portions, not mini, don't add... trust me) buy 1 large containers of heavy whipping cream per 2 pounds. they sell smaller ones if you are making an odd amount. buy one large bottle of parmesean cheese per 2 pounds.

you can cut up chicken if you'd like.

boil the noodles, drain and put in your serving dish. add these seasonings. garlic, basil, italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and onion powder. i never measure but i would say per pound about 1-2 tbls of garlic, basil, and italian seasoning. then 2 teaspoons of onion powder and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

add cream, and cheese, chicken if you'd like. stir well and serve!

this is homemade and everyone will want the recipe... TRUST ME!!!!!

KEEP IT SIMPLE! It's a b-day party for a 1 year old! Make a small dish for the adults and keep the other items for the kids. Don't stress yourself unless of course the b-day parety is to show off how much of a Betty Homemaker you are instead of how much you love your baby. Just Saying!

Nothing that the little ones could choke on, at least, not left where they can get them, but you're a nurse, you already knew that! When I threw my son's first bd party, I kept it very simple- a few good friends, mostly family, we opened presents, played with his new train set, had ice cream and cake and then everyone went home.

For my 1 year olds party we had barbeque beef sandwiches that I made in the crock pot, fruit, veges, and a meat and cheese tray. It was nice to have it like this because it left me room to mingle around and enjoy the party. I would suggest that you make things that don't need a lot of attention because you will want to spend time with your daughter and all of the special people in her life. Good luck the first year is such a milestone for everyone!

We didn't do much "sitting down" at my kids 1 year old parties so finger food and appetizers worked best. Your meat balls and corn dogs will be perfect. Add a veggie tray, a fruit tray and a meat and cheese tray and you'll be able to enjoy the party too!

A really easy meal would be a chicken stew and biscuits. I once made this for my family and it is great because you can always make it one or two days before the party! Just cut up some veggies (you can even do frozen ones), make a simple broth and throw in some chicken breast. The biscuits are super easy too!

Some other sides you could do are chips and salsa, a fruit salad, etc. You could even make strawberry shortcake for dessert with the leftover biscuits! Hope this helps. Good luck!
