Have a theme so everyone can dress up. EX:
-everyone wear your bling
-pimps and ho's
-80's theme
-Luau
-white party
-stock the bar (have everyone bring a bottle of liquor)
Those are always a lot of fun- especially if you can get everyone to particpate. At my 21st I had a shot block- and it was a big hit. It's a huge chunk of ice with grooves in it- and you pour the liquor down into someone's mouth at the bottom.
Have a 'rights of passage' ceremony where the person is taken out camping and you have a couple of simple rituals to really make them feel like they have come of age. 2 or 3 persons of the same sex can do this, and they can also present the birthday gifts.
im having one soon ,,, make sure you have a massive champaigne glass. fill it riight up to the top. and make the bday person attempt to scull it all :)
My mums really into DVD making.. and she puts together these slide shows from little to big and has played it at a few bday we have been to. its a great idea. makes the bday person feel real special. and a good way to celebrate!
