Two chickens for a fiver?!
Answers: I think that Hugh F-W has done a tremendously good job for chicken welfare. Tesco have put the price up, now selling them two for £5.50! We're having one for dinner. Who else thinks that they are still good value?
I think the principles are right behind how these animals are treated prior to becoming my dinner.
The fact that they can sell us 2 for a fiver is superb for families on a budget and feed their kids healthily. We eat a cooked meal every evening, full of nourishing goodness, ensuring the kids get their daily veg allowances.
I use these 2 for a fiver chickens at least once per week but couldn't do it if it were free range prices. This is where I will sacrifice my principles - but only ever by free range eggs,
I'm having chicken for dinner this evening actually, with cabbage, parsnips, carrots and peas - plus usual selection of potatoes and lashings of hot english mustard.
MMmmmmm
it's still very good value. isn't reggie a mans name?
W H A T ?
Sure they are good value but it does make you think. I personally wouldn't want anything to suffer undue pain be it physical or emotional before being humanely slaughtered.
In an ideal world we would all be buying free range and organic produce. Its not an ideal world though and while there is choice, people will choose what best suits their budget. Personally i would think that buying a cheap chicken and cooking it with some veg is a better option than eating high fat junk loaded with additives. Going off on a tangent here but when people on low incomes or on benefits say its too expensive to eat healthily, two chickens for a fiver could make a few good cheap nutritious meals. So back to the question, yes they are good value.
thats not bad at least you have a great descent bit of food there
It is good value, but how many people need 2 chickens
Yes,good value.Use one and freeze one for later use.
Considering most supermarkets only pay 3p for each chicken they buy they are still making a hefty profit. Yes they are cheap, but they're pumped full of water, and as the chickens are overfed and don't get any exercise whatsoever they are fat and therefore full of fat. So these 2 for £5.50 aren't quite as nutritious as a free range chicken
No thanks, you can keep it.
Tesco put the price up,but they are still the same chickens?
yes it is good value and i did used to buy them.but have now had a change of heart after seeing that programe.it was horrible.but if we thought of how most of our food was handled or killed we would probably never eat again.it is about time that it has been made public though and then at least people have got the choice.
