For a casual party you could.......
Something easy would be to make several different types of dip and buy a bunch of chips and crackers for dipping. throw in come meats and cheeses to make something more filling.
Also set up table for gambling. It doesn't even have to be for real money or anything. Do a poker competition and the last person that has chips gets a prize that you have picked out.

Masquerade parties are fun. If it is being held in the evening, that would be hot. You could either request that your guests come wearing elaborate masks, or you could proide them beautiful masks as they enter the venue.
If it is being held in the daytime, you can have a carnival theme. Rent a popcorn machine, cotton candy machine, a jump that adults and kids could hop into. You can even rent reach-in ice cream freezers with popsicles and your favorite treats in...those are fun because people can reach in and help themselves. You can have a hot dog stand too!
