I always loved the pinwheel sandwiches that my friend's mom used to make. You buy bread that is sliced lengthwise instead of widthwise (normal way we cut it). You can use different fillings: tuna with celery, salmon mixed with sweet relish, cream cheese & maraschino cherries, peanut butter & banana, ham & cheese, egg salad, chicken salad. You can get white and/or whole wheat bread. Cut the crusts off. Spread the filling. Roll the bread up. Wrap rolls in waxed paper. Chill. Then slice them to get the pinwheel slices. My favourites were the cream cheese/cherry & tuna.

Sloppy Joes with Lipton noodle, pea or black bean soup mix. Finish with a Twinkie and wash it all down with the "Kosher" Coca Cola. If you had the money a Dagwood would be a great tasting sammie! These foods are era specific not just what a fav is-

Cheapish is about right since it was the depression era. Soups were in abundance, but lunch meats were also enjoyed: roast beef.
