Candles really can set the mood for a dinner party I think. A nice soft music playing. Balloons are for children's party's. Splurge and get an ice scuplture with champagne flowing down it or a chocolate fountain with starwberries for dipping. I wouldn't spend too much budget on flowers, get something your guest would enjoy. They will have a much better time with a decoration they can talk about, drink, or eat.
