make her a queen for the day- start with a crown and breakfast in bed, draw her a bath with bubbles how about a manicure, give her supper by candle light ,and amovie that she has been wanting to watch on vcr with popcorn and pjs for a fun pajama party with the whole family. every mother wants to have fun with her kids not just worry about them. have a good day thanks for the lovely question
just bake her a cake and decorate with stuff that reminds you of her it cheap easy and fun. all of you can have fun making it and decorating and your mom will love it. trust me.
make something home-made, and put luv into it!!!! for moms, thats the best present ever when its from ur children!!! if u buy sumthing from a store, ur mom will think "o, just an every day item that i can buy, probably made in a factory by a 60-year old man, *sigh*, well, better go fake thank them". when the item is home-made, the mom will know that u put ur heart and luv into it, and took ur time to say "thanks for being my mom, ur the best!" hope this helps... i know its corny, but it never fails!!
If you can find them, wild flowers make a lovely arrangement. If that won't work, try to go around a lot of businesses and places like that ( I know this will sound bad) and steal ONE flower from each arrangement you can find, fake flowers are OK for this, when put together with real flowers they can be lovely. Also, origami, accent with paper cranes and she will love it.
bay a rotisserie chicken and make hot salad and a nice desert like cupcakes
Just remembering her Birthday will please her.
Go to a recipe web site and make something special for dinner.. it doesn't have to be fancy, just something .. You could serve me a baloney sandwich on my birthday and I would think it was the gourmet sandwich because you made it. You could get a cake mix and frosting very inexpensive and bake her a cake.
Other inexpensive items if you feel the need to give a gift would be
Kitchen Towels- no mother ever has enough and its nice to always get new ones.
House slippers- hopefully you can still find a pretty pair.
A winter scarf- in her favorite color or your favorite color
Her favorite indulgence food- a pint of her favorite Ben and Jerry's, a small bottle of maple syrup, a package of her favorite candies
You also could decorate the house with streamers so it looks like a party.
