Does anyone have any ideas on cheap and easy Baby Shower Foods?!?!

Question: My Cousin is throwing me a baby shower and she decided that part of the dinner would be Lunch Meat Sandwiches! I think it's a great idea, but, I also think with the cost of Lunch Meat these days that there might be something better out there cost wise but, just as easy!

Any Ideas? What did they Serve at ur Shower, Party, or Event? The important thing is that it be just as easy and maybe just a little more cost officient!
Any of your Ideas or Help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh and BTW, Even if it isn't easier or more cost officient, I'd love to hear your story! ;)

I would have the most expensive food ever!! I have this great dip that you can make you can reply back to me and I will send it to you it is AWSOME!! I would do a certain theme and stick with that what is your fav food? You can have her buy a ham and chickens and turkeys cut them up and do sandwiches that way and just buy cheese and buns
or crockpot tacos just some ides hopefully it will help!!

cheese and ritz

I have a large family and a lot of my close relatives brought a dish. i did have a huge shower, and we had a big assortment of different things, meatballs, veggie tray, sloppy Joe's, lunch meats, taco dip, and chips...if you have a couple close friend or relatives that have a "special"dish they like to make, ask them if they would bring something. my family is usually honored to be asked to bring something to such a happy event!! congrats !!

Have it at a place that has banquet rooms that are free for a couple of hours if you buy their food. If it's at home you can have a BBQ, or just go to Costco and get the premaid plattered sandwiches, or wraps, and chips are always a must, and salsa.

Most cost-efficient tasty appetizer / party food: Cold spinach dip served in a round loaf of pumpernickel.
- 2 10oz boxes frozen spinach, thawed & well-drained
- 1 can of water chestnuts, chopped
- 5 green onions, chopped
- 1 cup mayo
- 1 16 oz pkg sour cream
- 1 pkg Knorr's Vegetable Soup Mix

Combine all ingredients, let set for 2 hours, put into pumpernickel loaf right before serving. Also can be served with tortilla or Fritos chips, or crackers.

At my shower they served lasagna, salad and some appetizers.

You could also do mini sandwiches, or get a huge sub, like a 6-footer or something, that would probably be cheaper than buying all the lunch meat ala carte.

Don't take on *any* stress about your shower. Leave that to everyone else!

Congrats!!

My baby shower was pot luck. It was kind of cultural; so everyone made a dish representing their culture. Also, for those who couldn't bring a gift, instead offered to bring a dinner to my family after the baby was born. Which helped out a lot!! Maybe these ideas can help you?
Good luck and congrats.

Well then make it like a potluck cause it will be people your close with, so get to know the people your child will be around. Everyone brings a dish that represents there culture (and they explain it and why they brought it) and it will be a buffet by the time everyone brings something. Once again depending on the crowd, get hardough bread not hard to find, cheese, butter, sausage/hot dog, and ketchup. Slice the bread regularly, butter it, then cut the sausage or hot dog-make sure the sausage and hot dog is not frozen rock solid. Put the bread and hot dog/sausage in the (toaster)oven then after a minute or two put the cheese on- cheddar or mix it up to work for everyone. Voila its homemade pizza, not digornio or delivery but it should work. If not you can make some bow tie pasta then after its boiled fry it with sausage-just a little oil, sweet peepers, tomato, and onion-its real good!!! You can also make those quick eight minute pastas just put a few of the same packs together, and have some salad, and chicken on the side. And you can do pigs in a blanket, Pillsbury biscuits, and Pillsbury easy bake cakes they are really good. Mac&cheese, mashed potatoes, buffalo/ barbeque wings, salads.

If you want sandwiches, but do not want to have lunch meat because of the cost. You could make egg salad or chicken salad on white or wheat bread or a little more expensive on Croissants. That's what we had for my daughters baby shower with fruit salad or cheaper yet you could do potato salad. We had some dips and cheese and crackers.

i think Lara has the best idea!!

Cold spinach dip in the bread bowl is one of my favorites.

Also a light lasagna and salad lunch can be cheap and easy. if you didnt want to make a lasagna from scratch, Stouffers has the BEST premade lasagna ever!

For my cousins baby shower we had "snacks" , I made CUPCAKES!! and i remember someone made Quiche . but Quiche is gross
