How to add my own personal touch to my dinner party?!

Question: make a pretty centerpiece using fresh flowers
maybe get inexpensive photo frames and find a nice picture of you and each guest to insert into the frames and use as place cards on the table- nice gift for your guests
play relaxing dinner music during cocktails and dinner
have a specialty drink that you will be serving for the night along with the regular wine and beer- maybe a special martini
make a pretty dessert that no one will be able to pass up!
nice table cloth and cloth napkins adds a fancy touch to dinner.

Why print out family photos laminate them and use them as place mats.

spit in the food. hahaha sorry couldnt resist.
do something personal for each guest?

Charms on the stems of the wine glasses.
hand made place setting with each persons name, personalized to that person.
Little gift bags for each person on their chair at the party.

Do you have a "signature color," a color you prefer over all others? What about a flower or a sport or a culture?

Truly personal touches could be a little Haiku poem on handmade paper at each place setting, just for that person.

they key to doing this successfully is to give a piece of yourself to your guests. so try to think of something you LOVE, maybe its art or music or the dish you're making. then convert that thing into an item guests can take home (a small framed picture with the party date on the back, a cd of the music you played during the dinner party or a recipe card of the dish you prepared).

Watch Sandra Lee on the food network. She always does tablescapes that are great. Most of the time they are a theme. You could do anything. Just decide on a theme and go from there.
