What to serve?!

Question: My daughter and her family (husband, 11-year old daughter and 2 1/2 year old son) are coming to visit us. They are driving and will be here around midnight tomorrow. I know the kids will be asleep already from the car trip and will be ready for bed, but once they're taken care of, is it okay to offer the grownups wine and cheese? Or should I offer something more substantial?

If it were me I would have some lunch meat and cz, lettuce and tomato for sandwiches and if they are famished you can also open a few cans of soup. Would start with wine and cz and just let them decide, but would not prepare a meal, they may all just want to go to bed and then they might feel like they had to stay up to eat. Might have a cake in the house as well, I would think over your visit it will get devoured.

It will midnight, they probably wont be to hungry. A good dessert might be a yummy filling idea.

Nah, they probably won't want to eat that late anyway. Maybe add some fruit.
