I've seen a lot of comments leading to Chilli for a superbowl party. I'm not much of a Chili fan myself and!

Question: thought I'd serve hot dogs (good ones, not pig snouts, ha ha) with the works, chips, potato salad and baked beans. Strawberry Ice Cream Sundaes for dessert. Usually we don't have company for the game but this year my hubby opted to have a few friends over. I don't want to overload my guests with food but I'd like to be a good hostess. Does my menu sound ok?

Your menu sounds Delicious.....Hot Dogs, bake beans, ice cream.........How about.....Adding some Hot links and Polish Dogs..... ....Am not from New England I never ate bake beans in the winter with my dogs have to try it someday.....I would go with a Crock Pot Full of warm Chili Beans
How about
Chili with that dog, chopped onions, grated cheese for garnish...........crock-pot with the chili in and one with nacho cheese.....
This is what am serving
Meatballs sub sandwich's ..you can have the meatballs in a crock pot....
baby back ribs........
potato salad.....
pizza.......(home made)
strawberry jello surprise
beer, milk, waters and sodas.....
bowls of good chips, dips, nuts, avocado dip
Hot Apple Pie....whip cream or vanilla ice cream on top.....
I never worry about overloading my guest I worry someone my go home hungry....I always have left overs so my guest can take something home ......Like a goodie bags......of great left overs.....

Sounds good but I would add more appetizers. Maybe some nachos, chips/veggies. and dip. Maybe something small you can bake in the oven.

Have a great party.

It sounds delicious to me! I've had a lot of Super Bowl parties in my lifetime...I'd love to come to yours! .

You may not be a chili fan but hot dogs with the works, may mean some chili. you can choose not to add the chili to your hot dog. And ice cream for a super bowl party? Think of the mess when the your choosen team scores. stick with a mix of different chips and dips.

I would try two more meat appetizers. My only brand of hotdog now, is Hebrew National all beef. I and my son are having hot wings, ribs, pepperoni & cheese bread, bean dip, and salsa dip, and maybe a salad. Brownies with vanilla ice cream. You may not want to overload your guest, but unless your guest have delicate stomachs, health restirictions, or are older, one meat isn't gonna do it.

That sounds great. You may want to have more snacky type stuff for during the game. My family does shrimp cocktail, olive tapenade, and hummus with pita.

You could also go to Costco or somewhere and get some frozen appetizers that you can just throw in the oven when you're ready for them.

Good luck!

if i were you i'd upgrade to bratwursts, men love brats, better than hot dogs. at least get some sort of chili to put on the dogs

Chilli is great and makes two things come to mind, 1- your not liking it may be the result of having used bad recipes, also there are 100 ways to make it (beans or no beans, hot or mild, tons of chilli powder or more pure meat flavor), 2- and not to be rude here, but this might be a time where the objective is to please the palates of your guests more than yourself.
One thing I'm very surprised to not see anyone mention is BUFFALO WINGS, there is nothing more standard at a superbowl party than buffalo wings, should you not want to fry them up yourself (understandable) call the best local place for pickup, you will want to call well in advance, even days depending on how popular the place is as they will be flooded with orders. The hot dogs are not a bad idea though, but i do agree chilli cheese dogs (get larger than ordinary buns) would be better.
A good and easy to make appetizer that lends itself to all of the above would be potato skins.

You are getting good polite ideas but.....
Honey you are having adult company... I just ate that menu at my bothers last week end at my nephew's birthday party....My sister in law hadHot dogs, nachos too.....and ice cream sundaes....He was 5 years old.....and my brother was a little short on money ....So, we brought steaks for the adults......
How about a grown up party
Hot links, Hot dogs. Polish Dogs, Hamburgers you barbecuing right......if you are stuck on Hot Dogs
If you are on a budget then how about Pizza....I saw you have a badge for decorating.....The food is your eatable decorating that day it what your company should remember.....Who cares if you have a nice home nice TV if your husbands friends go home hungry.....I would feel like why did you invite me over for a Hot Dog This is the super bowl and keep your ice cream for you and your husband snack ....Lady you are entertaining...you said."I do not want to overload my friends does that mean???( I want to be as cheap as I can be) People are trying to be polite want to be polite but you are not getting it.....Where's the bufflo wings.....

Did you want answers of what people think or people just to agree with you......

sOUND GOOD JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A GOOD DIP THAT VERY IMPORTANT, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WINGS AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LITTLE HOAGIES WITH LOTS TO DRINK, THEN UR HUBBIE FRIEND WILL REALLY LOVE YOU...lol..good luck

Your menu sounds great, but I thought I would share a copy-cat receipe for Olive Garden's Pasta Fagioli (soup) that is very similar to Chili. I made it for our Super Bowl party last year, and my husband does not like chili, but he loved this soup.

OLIVE GARDEN PASTA E FAGIOLI
Copycat receipt

?3 teaspoons Oil
?2 pounds Ground beef
?12 ounces Onion; chopped
?14 ounces Carrots; slivered
?14 ounces Celery; diced
?48 ounces Tomatoes; canned, diced
?2 cups cooked Red Kidney beans
?2 cups cooked White kidney beans
?88 ounces Beef stock
?3 teaspoons Oregano
?2 1/2 teaspoons Pepper
?5 teaspoons Parsley; (fresh chopped)
?1 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
?48 ounces Spaghetti sauce
?8 ounces dry pasta Shell macaroni; or other pasta

Directions
1.Preparation: Sauté beef in oil in large 10-qt. pot until beef starts to brown. Add onions, carrots, celery and tomatoes and simmer for about 10 minutes. Drain and rinse beans and add to the pot.
2.Also add beef stock, oregano, pepper, Tabasco, spaghetti sauce, and noodles. Add chopped parsley. Simmer until celery and carrots are tender, about 45 minutes.
3.Makes 9 quarts of soup! **Just cut the recipe in 1/2 for smaller family needs!
