Help! Surprise Birthday Ideas?!

Question: I am going to have a suprise party for my boyfriend of 4 years next weekend. Its going to be at his friends house since my place is too small. How can we go about telling him that something is going on without ruining it? Also, he will be 23, what kinds of things should we get besides alcohol. I was thinking about a big sheet cake. Any other ideas?? Should we just keep it simple?! Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!!

have his friend tell him he wants to go out with the guys. you just sit on the couch saying "have a great time!" maybe they can meet someplace and his friend says "I forgot my ID, run home with me" then you are all at his house waiting for them!
have snacks for people to eat throughout the night- chips and dips, veggie tray, taco dip, maybe some meatballs or little weenies in a crock pot or maybe a big sub or some pizzas. people will want ot have snacks, especially when drinking at the end of the night everyone gets hungry. cake for sure
get various drinks- beer, hard liquor and juices, maybe a big batch of whop (alcohol punch), wine or wine coolers for the girls.
simple is fine, but you want it to be special so he remembers the great party you guys had for him! make sure you decorate in his favorite colors- streamers, balloons- get supplies from the dollar store. shop for food at Aldi, it's way cheaper then the regular grocery store and the quality is the same. tell him you're doing something that day with whoever- shopping with your mom or something- then go to his friends house to get the food all ready and decorate.
or maybe have plans with some other friends for a little later than the party will start (maybe the plans are to go out and celebrate his bday with everyone at a bar), then his friend can call him and say he needs help with something and you guys just go over and everyone is there.

P.S. Don't have evryone park in his front yard. Make them park a little further away and walk to the house. Also don't let him notice the family and friends cars so, have them park on one street and when the guy comes back to get his ID, they use another street that the cars are not parked on. Good Luck.
