I am hosting a brunch for a baby shower. There will be roughly 30-50 people. I would like menu ideas.?!

Question: i love finger foods at parties. i would have a sandwich tray (bought or homemade) or maybe some assorted wraps. a veggie tray and then any preferred finger foods - cocktail weiners, meatballs, cheese platter, olives, etc.

if you have the time you could gather some empty baby food containers and serve either a soup or dessert in them. it would make a nice touch at a baby shower.

Something simple and not messy. For example...hamburgers, pizza, a big pot of chili/chicken chili/soup, etc...

How about some Gerber's? That would break the ice, huh?

Seriously, baby shower means women. The only men will be hen-pecked wimps! Serve quiche - it's easy to make ahead of time and it cooks quickly. Also, serve plenty of mimosas, except for the fat lady, OK?

Since this would be between breakfast and lunch I suggest things like mini quishes- ham and cheese, spinach and cheese. You can do a cornbread muffin with mild green chilis and cheese. Regular muffins of any kind. Fruit salad or kabobs with a sweet fruit dip- these are fun. I would do a orange- pinapple juice with a little 7 up in it. You can also do pinwheels with scrambled egg, bacon, cheese, mild green chilis. Mini bagels with fruit cream cheeses. Crepes filled with strawberries. Chocolate dipped fruit kabobs and arrange into a flower pot with styrophome and tape or glue leaves onto the pick.

-BBQ meatballs (crockpot)
-Mix two packs of Hillshire Farm mini beef smokeys with one jar of Honeycup's uniquely sharp mustard (heat together on stove or in a crocpot)
-Chicken nugget or chicken strip tray from Chic Fil A
-Sandwich platters
-Veggies & dip
-Fruit platter

For that number of people I assume you will do a buffet. Fruit platters are a must - replate the ones from Costco or cut up your own. A plate of breakfast sausage is also welcome. You can precook the sausage and warm them in the microwave.

Bread puddings are easy and delicious. You can make them either savory or sweet and they can be (in fact, should be) put together the night before and just baked off before the brunch. I did one with proscuitto and goat cheese for Christmas brunch and it was very well recieved. There are amillion and one recipes on the web and all of them sound good to me.

Bagels are another winner, just make sure they are very fresh. You can toast the first round or two in the oven under the broiler, and then put out toasters for people who want to toast them themselves. A couple of kinds of cream cheese, jam (maybe hot pepper jam?), smoked salmon (or poached salmon if you really like to cook.)

And then a sweet. Doughnuts, muffins, sweet rolls, coffee cake are all good choices. You can buy or bake as you wish.

For drinks offer orange juice, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, ice, and different kinds of glasses. Champagne and vodka if it is that sort of crowd. And, of course, coffee and tea. For a festive touch whipped cream and a shaker full of cocoa are super.

In Martha Stewarts Baking Handbook (you can get it it out of the library or just look for another recipe) Classic Crumb Cake

This site is awesome for recipes. I use it all the time. Do a search for what you may be interested in. http://www.recipezaar.com/

You can also get an assortment of bagels and spreads; an assortment of muffins; different quiches.........

serve: coffee, tea, juice (orange, pineapple, grapefruit), milk

A really good alcoholic drink that is delicious, easy to drink and easy to make is a Bellini. Take peach or apricot nector pour into a chamapagne glass 1/2 to 3/4 full then pour Prosecco (Italian champagne) on top. then drink.

Other classic brunch drinks: Mimosa & Bloody Mary (more of an aquired taste)

you want to lean closer to items served at breakfast time: muffins, quiche, scones, fruit, etc. But a brunch allows you to also serve lighter lunch items such as: salads, mimosas... and cake. Have fun!
