I am hosting a birthday party for a friend who will be starting chemo. Any ideas?!

Question: Find out his/her very most favorite foods and serve 'em all...or at least as many as you can! The chemo will be causing vomiting and lack of appetite, so the party food should be something to remember!

If that turns into a really big job, enlist some friends to bring some of the dishes. Everyone wants to help out at a time like this! After the party, freeze the leftovers and bring them over when he/she feels like eating again.

Nothing out of the ordinary.
Here is a cheap idea....Have a martini party. Whoever you invite ask them to bring something pertaining to your meal. Example.....A separate person can bring pasta, meat, chips, dip, bread, etc. I love parties like that. It gives me a chance to have more parties because one doesnt break me an people feel apart of everything.

The party should be very fun.

The goal is to take their minds off of the dreaded 'chemo'...so ...why not take everyone to a Comedy Club and get a private huge table for just your friends? Have a fun night out...............OR ....plan the party at someones home ....and book a comedian to come there ....
or rent a DVD of a great comedian...(watch it first to make sure it is appropriate 'or inappropriate' enough for your, and your guests tastes) This can play in the background for people to watch as they walk around mingling.

Then.....cook a great meal or make a buffet of great foods.....after chemo starts meals will not taste the same nor will they have a very good appetite.

Have a poker game for small change. Just silver change ...nothing too expensive....just a friendly game.

You could also have it be a costume party where everyone dresses up in a pair of crazy pajamas. A crazy pajama party......complete with wild hats, houseshoes, and goofy PJ's.

It is all about lifting spirits and having fun......so go all out.

And don't forget to take plentyyyyyy of pictures....just dont announce that your going to do that until AFTER everyone shows up in their crazy pajamas....lol.

Perhaps invite a bunch of friends over and have a huge poker party with just small change. Tell everyone to clean out their change drawers and come on over.
