What is the ideal cake for a birthday?!

Question: For a child, age 8.

Answers: For a child, age 8.

a sheet cake with one half chocolate and the other half vanilla, with the childs favorite character. etc on top of the cake.

Ice cream cake with killer decorations on it.

I think the ideal cake would be cupcakes.

Make the cupcakes and then let each kid decorate their own cupcake as a party game. Put out funky colored/flavored icings.....then put out plastic spoons in small bowls of sprinkles, tube icing ...chocolate chips....nuts..mini marshmallows...and small candies.....as a buffet type deal so the kids really want to decorate their cupcakes.

put a 9x11" cake pan on the table for the kids to hold their cupcake over to put their decorations on their cupcakes.

Do a very small cake as the 'Birthday Cake' with a big #8 on it.....just for the birthday kid.........then have all the cupcakes as individual cake servings.

I find a muffin mix works well - definitely chocolate. For an 8th party I would make two round cakes (to make a number 8). I would then cover them in cadburys chocolate and then put sweets on the chocolate as it sets. I have in the past used maltesers, smarties, jelly sweets, fizzy laces, midget gems, and dolly mixtures. Very easy, cheap and always goes down a treat!

Has to be a chocolate sponge with white chocolate frosting. Anything colourful would be good and an assortment of cup cakes would be easier to eat. If the child has a favorite thing creating a shape e.g. bear or train etc would be stunning!

it depend on if a girl , she may like someone on Disney and he may like the same ,what is his or her favorite thing

What is he/she really into right now? Maybe you could ask the cake decorator (if you are buying it) to put it on the cake as a design if they can. They usually always have a book too with the designs they can put on it, he/she can pick it out. Basically my mom always bought a cake that was half and half (half vanilla and half chocolate) with whipped cream frosting with my picked design on it.

It was always a special treat for me knowing that I got to pick the pretty design that was on my cake!

Hope your child has a wonderful birthday! :)
