What appetizer or side dish?!
Answers: to my husband's family's house- many sister in laws and me too. They bring something and I want to too.
How about a nice fruit salad.
I often do deviled eggs, sausage balls, spinach dip, or cold veggie pizza.
It probably depends what the main dish is but my favorite (and very popular too) is a Greek Pasta Salad I make. Heres how (Its easy too)
Cook off a bag or tri colored rotini pasta...drain and rinse with cold water.
Add 1-2 diced tomatoes.
1 can of pitted black olives, drained
about 1/2 cup to 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
about 1/2 cup of greek salad dressing.
you can add a little bit of spanish onion if you like too
Mix it up real good. Cover bowl with Saran wrap and chill at least an hour. So yummy!
avocado black bean dip
8 avocados diced
1/2 cup lime juice (bottled is fine)
2 cans black beans drained and rinsed well
2 cans corn drained
1 lg red onion chopped
1/4 cup pickled jalepenos chopped
dice the avocados, and immediately stir the lime juice in them to prevent the from turning brown
add all other ingredients....
stir well, cover and chill for 2 hours before serving.....
serve with tortilla chips
THIS APPETIZER IS A HIT AT EVERY GET TOGETHER..... EVERYONE LOVES IT, ITS LIGHT, REFRESHING AND AND HAS GREAT EYE APPEAL,
Water chestnuts or button mushrooms wrapped with bacon, marinated in tariakay (sp) or hickory then baked in the oven. Delish!
Or cheater sweet and sour meat balls. Use equal parts catchup and grape jelly to make the sauce.
A big toss salad is always welcome. Green bean casserole is always a hit.
You could bring the man dish. It makes you seem really important.
Do a nice vegetable consume.
potato casserole
2 lbs frozen ore-Ida hash brown
8 oz. sour cream
2 cans cream of potato soup
1 small can sweetened condensed milk
1 small onion, chopped
8 oz shredded cheese
Parmesan cheese or
2/3 cup cornflakes mixed with melted butter
combine sour cream, potato soup, milk, onion and cheese, then add hash browns, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese or spread corn flakes and butter. bake at 300 for 1 1/2 hours.
it would really help if i knew what type of food your sister in laws were bringing but a random thought would be some kind of fondue or a batch of tiny wingettes.
