Do amercans really drink soda at family dinners?!
Answers: I rarely see this, maybe if it came with the pizza or some take out, but not with a home cooked meal. I just keep seeing it on TV shows and I was wondering.
I personally drink water with every meal, but my husband likes to drink soda. If I bring water to the table with dinner, he will drink water. If I forget, he will most likely grab a soda. My sister lets her kids drink soda whenever, but I don't let them when they are with me. Colas should be a treat and not a liquid staple. I was once a server in a few different restaurants. I would say that most people drink soda or tea with their meals when they eat out.
My family didn't. Soda was a rarity in my house growing up.
But yeah, when we'd go out for pizza we would have soda. Major treat.
Yeah, my family and I do. Why is that so strange?
Yes.
Some do, some don't.
We don't.
why can't we drink 'pop' at the family dinners? i think it's kind of weird how British folks set times to drink tea [i like tea, but find it really indifferent]
Yes, it is consumed quite often at the dinner tables across America. Ice tea is a favorite as well.
We do, if we want it. Also have water and juice almost all the time.
Yes yes yes....grew up with it for dinner...that and Kool-aid....
We never drank water or milk with dinner.
Even now I drink iced tea with dinner
lol yes if you want to or if you can afford it lol i mostly drink homemade tea.
Yes, some people drink soda with their dinner. My sister drinks it with everything even her breakfast...yuck!
My Mom wouldn't let us, always had a glass of milk with dinner. Now I like Orange Soda and Mexican Food.
I'm a single girl and when I eat alone I luv to have soda with my dinner. Family dinners are usually a little more formal but we still have soda if depending on what we're eating. Holidays we usually make some sort of punch. Hope this helps, my fave is coke with pizza :)
Oh course, when you see it on TV shows, COKE is paying to have the bottle of soda on the table with the logo in plain site. It's called product placement here and it's one of our sneakier forms of advertizing.
The soda isle is very often about one half the size of all of the produce section in an American market. You can buy a liter of coke in McDonald's that is intended to be a "single" serving. Yet Americans are on average about 30 pounds overweight-- go figure.
What is this "home cooked" meal you speak of? Not only do many Americans drink soda during dinner, many have the TV on and barely talk. We are the country that elected Bush twice after all.
some do, i don't
when I was younger I rarely drank soda--it was special, now that I live on my own, that is all my bf drinks, I drink a lot of water, especially at meals when I go home I drink milk with dinner all the time though
Yeah. Why?
We never do, it makes it hard to eat your food with all that gas boiling around in there.. :)
I do. It doesn't matter if I am cooking the meal, eating at my sisters, or if I am eating out--I have a glass of diet soda and a glass of water.
when i was growing up we didn't have anything to drink with dinner. that was my fathers idea since he didn't drink anything at dinner growing up. to this day i don't know why.. people are different all over some drink soda some don't. although down south we tend to drink more soda and iced tea then anyone else in the country. of course the heat may have something to do with it.
sometimes when we are too lazy
yes
