I am not a party giver. If is a tribute to your husband that you want to go to so much trouble for him, but you know him; we do not. Make a list of the activities he enjoys, the people he considers to be his friends (and people who also like and respect you), and anything that comes to mind. Study the list until your mind begins to put it into order. The result will be your creation, not anyone else's. And if he loves you as much as you clearly love him, what he wants is what is YOU--no one else.

book a hotel banquet room - have it like a mini-wedding reception except more casual (Party attire) -= get a DJ, MC, custom cake made... and have a slide show running with pics of him from baby to adult...... have a special presentation "BOB JONES.... THIS IS YOUR LIFE" - invite friends he hasnt seen since grammar school - his favorite high school teacher.... his first boss..... his cousins from the other side of the country - you can REALLY make it memorable.....

Depends - if you want a more private affair why not just rent a room or a section of a restaurant? I believe your big big bash would be for 50th right? So if it were me I'd do a more personal thing at a restaurant with close family and friends and hold the big extravagant party at a hall etc. for his 50th.

he must have a favourite place/thing to do/sports team taht could somehow involved?

Can you give us a budget in mind to work with? Are we shooting for the stars here and budget is not a factor? If so then rent a yacht for the night and get a DJ. That would create a smashing party. I guess we would have to also know more info like what likes and dislikes are and also how much are you willing to spend.

I personally think that if you had a custom cake done with his favorite sport or just something that is a favorite of his I think that would be great.....Give more info and we can help! Email me if you need more suggestions and I would be happy to help!

I had a pig roast for my hubbies golden 30th. it was great- we had a tent outside with tables and chairs I rented, balloons all over the yard, and the pig and chickens on the spit.

what is he really into? hobbies, sports, fave TV show or movie??? try to get it revolved around that. like the next one I do for my hubby I'm either going to do a wrestling theme (school wrestling) with rented mats so him and his buddies can wrestle (all they ever talk about is their wrestling days!) or a hunting theme since he is a die hard hunter. here are some ideas for adult parties http://www.adultpartyideas.com/

Maybe a costume/theme party where everyone dresses up as Hippies from the late 1960's or do a Disco theme (John Travolta style) from the 1970's. Best costume or best dancer could be a game to play. List favorite movies/tv shows that were popular during those times and the most correct answers wins a prize.

Or go to a Baseball game with a small group of close family and friends and after or before the game, go to a pizza place.

Theme parties are really fun at this age because you bring back fun memories and times.
