Someone who does a lot of catering told me people eat an average on nine pieces of food at a buffet. So you should aim to do, say, 700 pieces. You will want to aim for at least nine different items, but you could perhaps do three or four different sorts of sandwiches, a couple of different sorts of quiches, sausage rolls, vol-au-vents, chicken drumsticks, and sausages or cheese and pineapple on sticks. Then you could add crisps, Twiglets and cheesy snack biscuits. Don't know if you want to serve all savoury, or some sweet things.
Would recommend going for basic things that most people like, rather than trying to impress with something way-out that no-one will try, and you are left with it on your hands.

Just think about how much you can eat yourself, then multiply it by 80.

It's better to have stuff left over, than for it all to go. If all the food has gone, then that means people are still hungry and you'll be really embarrassed.

Buy a bunch of different kinds of crackers and plenty of different cheeses.....it will be sure to please. Have fun!!!

I always over estimate the amount of food, better to have to much, than to little

I would do 80 only because it's safe to have more then less. And also some people eat more then others.

how about 90 go big less stress that way. have a lot to drink to k

50

From experience 60, you will get greedy beggers but you will also get folk who won't eat anything, make sure you have plenty of pkts of crisps in your cupboard just in case, another thing - make it simple and enjoy yourself
