i think u should ask him because its his family coming over and he know what they eat. If they don't like it u could blame it on him.
How about sugar snap peas and cherry tomatoes and a blue cheese dip made from Marie's Dressing or Ranch Dressing with crumbled Blue Cheese. Also some toasted almonds. A nice fruit plate and for something sweet somthing chocolate. Even the dieters will be happy.
This little appetizer is very popular with my guests. It's easy but it looks and tastes like you spent a log time on it!
5 Roma Tomatoes, chopped
1 Handful of chopped fresh basil
1/2 chopped small red onion
balsamic vinegar
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Sliced Baguette
Mix them all together in a bowl. Eye ball the vinegar and oil. You just want to coat the other ingredients. Then arrange the baguette slices around the bowl on a platter. Your guests can spoon the mixture onto their bread. It's so tasty!
This will take about 1 hour....but, it has always been the first to go at parties and it can be frozen and warmed in a 350 degree oven for 15 min.
Won Tons
Scramble 1 pound of ground pork (not sausage)
1 can of shrimp
1 can of water chestnuts
1 bunch of green onions
1 pound of mushrooms
2 eggs
chop and mix
Soy Sauce to taste
Wrap in won ton wraps and deep fry.
The sauce is ketchup and brown sugar to taste and you can add a Chinese 5 spice or what ever! I always serve the won tons with hot Chinese mustard.
I received this 30 years ago from a Japanese woman in California.
