Why does bathroom water seem to be colder than kitchen water?!
Answers: Just having fun!
It is possible if your bathroom is further away from the hot water heater than the kitchen, and the pipes are not insulated well.
:-)
No it isnt! In fact, theyre just the same. They just feel different because the kitchen water is not applied on the body. Making it most likely warmer than the bathroom water which is directy applied in the body.
probably because people use more kitchen water than bathroom water.
Closer to source of entry to house? : )
In our area, water pipe access to house comes from underground to keep pipes from freezing. Ground temperature is cooler than air in basement and crawl space of house. Since bathroom and washing machines use consumes more water than kitchen use does, generally access to water main is near these areas, with the kitchen a distant last place. Main drainage to sewer is near bathrooms since water consumtion is greater in this area.
Metal supply pipes on a hot water line pull heat from the water as it is passed along its interior. Metal supply pipes are chilled as the cold water passes along the line; since the metal absorbs cold. Does it make since that the water is slightly warmer in the kitchen?
Ever held a piece of metal over a candle flame?
Ever stuck your tongue or wet finger to an ice cube tray?
Metal conducts heat and cold.
We replaced the copper hot water line to the kitchen since so much heat was lost between the hot water heater and the kitchen faucet with a supply line from one of the newer heat safe plastics. We're still using the copper pipe for the cold water supply line, since the water is filtered for kitchen use.
Haven't done a scientifc test yet. So, no data! Have you?
