What to serve for dinner tonight?!

Question: My boyfriend and I are having a very casual get together tonight with some friends. There will be 6 of us. I have no idea what to have for dinner. Something casual and easy. I was going to go the easy route, and have burgers and brats, but we have a very tiny BBQ (only holds about 4 burgers at a time) and it's not very practical to serve 6 people off of it. Plus, it's hard to cook on, doesn't cook very evenly, etc, etc. But I also don't want to serve something where we'd have to sit down at a table and eat. Someone's bringing meatballs for an appetizer, and we'll be drinking beer, mostly. Any ideas besides grilling up some burgers that would be easy and fairly cheap??

Here are some ideas:

1. Chicken breast tenders, marinated in Italian dressing, grilled and tossed with romaine lettuce, fresh raspberries, candied walnuts, gorgonzola cheese and a raspberry vinagrette.
2. Grilled steak sandwiches: 2 lbs of top sirloin steak, seasoned with kosher salt, pepper, garlic, cumin, and a little chili powder; 1 large yellow onion; 1 green bell pepper; 6 sourdough sandwich rolls. Grill steak on your little webber until medium rare. While the steak is grilling, slice onion into rings and saute in olive oil with green bell pepper slices. Season with salt and pepper. When steak is finished, slice into paper thin slices and serve on rolls with sauteed onions and peppers. For an added treat, top steak with a slice of provolone cheese.
3. Hot dogs or smokies in barbecue sauce
4. Purchase a 6 foot long Subway or Togo's sandwich or make your own by purchasing a round loaf of french bread (unsliced). Cut in half and hollow out slightly. Brush olive oil on both sides and layer: 1/4 lb. smythfield ham, 1/4 pound genoa salami, 1/4 lb mortadella, 1/4 lb turkey, 10 slices provolone, 2 sliced tomatos, several romaine leaves, and a mixture of 1 cup sliced green olives, 1 tsp olive oil, 1 tsp Italian herbs, and 1/4 cup shredded parmesan. Put the top on the sandwich and wrap in saran wrap. Sit a heavy pan on top for at least an hour. Cut into wedges and serve.

Go to bhg.com or google simple fast party food, they have really great ideas, try fish tacos or something flavorful n spicy, you need to think compact so they dont reallly need the force of a fork or table.

pizza hot dish

hot wings, quesadillas, just like h'ordeuveres. Friday's is a really good brand for that get the party size good and littleto no prep time.

Go to the store and buy hamburger helper.

You could do wings, order pizza or stromboli, or make a pasta salad.

Something I make that everyone loves is a chicken chip dip. You boil about 5 boneless chicken breast. Once done drain them and tear the chicken into small bite size pieces. Mix a large jar of salsa, 2 cans white Northern beans (drained), a can of tomatoes with chilis, and 2 small packages of mild Chedder shredded cheese. Cook and mix this all up over medium on the stove top. If you have a crock pot you can cook it all in that.
Then serve it with nacho chips. everyone loves it!!!

Pizza, Mac and Cheese, or simple pasta, you could do spaghetti, since you wouldn't need to cook meatballs and then make garlic bread (from a box, cheap, great)...... have a nice.

PIZZA everyone loves it... you could do oven pop-corn chicken with (again oven) fries, that's what we do when no one wants to cook, PLUS theyr'e both finger food. you could also do a good variety of sandwhiches (or even better lay out toppings + baugettes and let THEM make it). Or you could do something like hot dogs?!? boil and buns!

Throw some cooked burger and manwich sauce in the crockpot and have sloppy joes. They'll stay hot, so as people become ready to eat they can serve themselves.
Some chips & dip, baked beans (in another crockpot) and maybe some potato or mac salad to round it out.

I purchased at Albertsons, 69 cents a pound, chicken legs and thighs. We bake them in a hot sauce, highly seasoned, plus add soy sauce. Bake them in a 400 degrees oven, still real crispy. About an hour and fifteen minutes...Made up some rice a Roni, purfect!!! Oh yes. lots of wine!!!!

You can have an appetizer party. We do this often with my husbands family when there are a few of us hanging out. Make a pot of soup or a big salad and then serve a variety of appetizers. It fills you up, and is super easy. We slice up some crusty Italian bread and serve it with prosciutto, ham or turkey. A few different cheeses, some marinated artichokes, peppers, olives, etc... Make a spinach dip and serve it with tortilla chips. Have salsa available also. Veggies and dip, a little fruit and call it a party!
