For the pictures/camera theme, buy a disposable camera for everyone in attendance and have them take lots of pictures, or have them bring their cameras and e-mail you all the pictures. That way you will have lots of pictures of the party, even the parts you didn't see. When you get them all back, make a photo album or dvd slide show of everything (which you set to music and give to everyone).

Since your a picture camera dude you should make it at a park, special rent out room or the beach:and maybe setup a nice picnic tables outside and eat out make activities etc.

My twin sister, best friend, and (now) husband all have birthdays within 12 days of each other, so for our 18th birthday we threw a "Sprung Flung." This was in lieu of a Spring Fling, so we had everyone come dressed up, but done in a humorous fashion. We went to the thrift store and got some 60's prom dresses. My sister ended up looking like a Chiquita banana lady, I looked like Cinderella of the 60's (turquoise dress with potato sack patches and overdone make-up), and my best friend...well, she just looked hideous.

We did a baked-potato bar, but served a Mr. Potato head to one guy instead. We had one cake for the girls (which said "Merry Groundhogs Anniversary" or something like that), and made a sponge cake for the guy. But his cake was a literal huge sponge frosted to look like a cake...and he couldn't cut through it!

We also had karaoke and a talent show. At one point, my best friend (who can be pretty eccentric) had everyone "Visualize the bubble...Be the bubble..." Haha!! We had some people really get into that one. We used a hall, and had somewhere between 50 and 100 people. At the end we handed out "Golden Plunger" awards - they were toilet plungers from the dollar store that we spray-painted gold. They were given to people who dressed the best, who won the talent show, was the most spirited, etc. It was an absolute BLAST!!!

Then, as far as gifts went, we found an organization that needed donations (a local high school for homeless and at-risk teens) and requested people bring them in lieu of gifts for us. But that was because there were four of us and we didn't want people to feel obligated to bring gifts for all four of us. =)

Have a great birthday!
